Bryce and Becky Paulist Center Wedding

Bryce and Becky were married on June 24th, with a ceremony at the Paulist Center and a reception in the Hampshire House in Boston.

Becky and Bryce met at a “quirky Irish bar” in Danbury, Connecticut, where they pretty much instantly connected. Ever since, they’ve been doing things their own way—including what has to be a totally unique proposal. Becky was in the shower when Bryce told her that he had something serious to ask her. He opened the curtain (yup!) and went to his knees to propose—just like that!

These two actually decided to elope a few years ago, but now, they knew that they wanted to do a big wedding with all their friends and family in a church. This was especially important to Becky, since she is from Brazil and wanted her family to be able to celebrate with her. So, they scheduled their wedding around their 5th anniversary and called me up, and I couldn’t have been more excited.

My second shooter, Vanessa Walsh and I met up with Bryce and Becky at the Boston Park Plaza downtown to do some getting ready shots. Vanessa spent time with Bryce, while Becky and I had time just the two of us. I always love it when I get to start a wedding with some quality time with the bride before all the excitement. The bride and groom had a touching first look in the lobby. Becky was just radiant, her smile lighting up the whole lobby. It was raining, so after the first look, we hopped in a couple taxis to head over to the Paulist Center Church.

After a beautiful service, it was time for a stroll through the Boston Common and the Public Gardens. Luckily, the rain had stopped. We captured some formals with Bryce and Becky as well as their best man and maid of honor. We had so much fun—especially when we happened a upon a Wise potato chip truck. What better background for some wedding formals? We also had some laughs when an innkeeper crashed our portraits in front of a Beacon Hill historic space. After, we booked it over to the Hampshire House for a jazz brunch and family time.

The Hampshire House is such an elegant venue. Its lofty ceilings and elegant bookcases were a handsome backdrop for Becky and Bryce’s reception. I was also a huge fan of the song that they chose as their first dance: “So Nice.” If you don’t know it, I suggest you Google it. Especially if, like me, you’re a fan of Brazilian music. It’s one of my favorites.

Becky & Bryce, thank you for asking me to be part of your big day! I’m so glad that I was able to be there as you shared your love with your family and friends.
