How Sweet the Sound - Oh Honey at TT The Bears
About a year ago I met this rad guy named Mitch and man was he talented. He was signed to the music publishing company Green & Bloom. and they brought me to NYC last year to photograph all their talent for a song writer's retreat. That job was a work for hire, which means I can't show you those photos, but it was there that I was able to photograph Mitchy Collins for the first time. Fast forward to a month ago, I received a call from my buddy Billy Mann, the mastermind behind Green & Bloom. He ask me what I was doing that night because Mitchy was in Boston with his band Oh Honey. Of course I was free for him! I rustled up some child care for my kiddos and headed on over for my reunion with Mitch at TT the Bears in Cambridge to photograph their show.
They kicked ass. Along with Mitchy, the band consists of Danielle Bouchard, Ian Alexander Holubiak (Guitar), Robbie Ernst (Drums), and Rob Guariglia (Bass). They were super tight, and the music was upbeat and their sound is so contagious. You could tell they already have a following because their audience knew most of the words to their songs.
When the show was over, Mitch told me they were about to sign a major record label deal. And about two days later, I received news that Oh Honey had signed a deal with Atlantic Records! Boom! That was quick.
Keep an eye out for them. They are gaining speed faster than you can imagine. You may recognize them from their music video with Danielle Brooks AKA "Tastyee" and Uzo Aduba, AKA "Crazy Eyes" from the show Orange is the New Black, belting out A Jolly Christmas Medley. Oh Honey is coming back to Boston on May 3rd at the House of Blues. You NEED to check them out!
