Vermont is for Lovers - Kristin and Ian's Woodstock Vermont Wedding

Kristin and Ian were married on August 29^th, with a ceremony and reception at Ian's Family Farm in Woodstock, VT.

Kristin grew up in the woods of Carlisle, MA, and Ian grew up in Hartland, VT. They met at The Harp—a bar in Boston by North Station—5 years ago in September 2009. Kristin was out with a group of girlfriends celebrating one of their birthdays. Ian and Kristin spotted each other on the dance floor, and one of her girlfriends nudged her into him so that they would spark up a conversation. It worked, and the rest is history!

They love to travel and have lived in Nicaragua together (for 5 months in 2010); they have gone back 3 times since for vacation. Their dream is to one day own a surf/yoga chalet somewhere tropical. Kristin is a very well-known yoga instructor.

Ian proposed the weekend after Christmas while they were snowshoeing on his mom's property in Woodstock, VT. They got to the top of the hill—it was a beautiful view, and the sun came out from behind the clouds—and he got down on one knee and proposed. Kristin was totally shocked, because she had no idea he was even shopping for rings. He got her good.

I met Kristin and Ian through an amazing couple early on in my wedding days—Christine and Chris, aka The Chris Team. When the couple first reached out and told me that the wedding was going to be at Ian's family farm, I think I squealed a little because 1. I had yet to shoot a wedding in Vermont and 2. I LOVE a good farm wedding. Especially when it's a family farm, loaded with history and memories.

Normally on the day of a wedding, I sleep in, bulk up on a huge breakfast, and pack my bags, but not for this wedding. I actually arrived the day before and hit the hay early because Kristin invited me to take an 8am yoga class with her friends and family on a property they had rented. So at 7:30, I headed over to the middle of nowhere to take an amazing yoga class in the upstairs level of a barn under construction. I did shoot that a little bit too, of course. Then, I headed back for food and a shower and ran back to photograph Kristin and her bridal party and family getting ready.

My second shooter, Kerri Green, headed directly over to Ian's family farm for getting ready shots and set Ian up for his first look with Kristin. From there, we walked down the hill for formals and then on to the ceremony and a fabulous meal prepared by Coventry Catering. Not to mention dancing until the break of dawn.

Kristin's father is Armenian, and out of nowhere, he ran onto the middle of the dance floor, and all of Kristin's family came out for a kind of Hora or a traditional Armenian dance called a "Baurd". It was so incredibly fun, especially when Ian took off his shirt and just wore his tie and vest and ran around dancing his tushy off.

Kristin and Ian's friend made the cakes and deserts, and they were to die for. Their favors were seeds to plant, and I loved that.

Kristin and Ian, I can't begin to express how much fun I had over the weekend with you. Your farm was one of the most magical places I have ever been to, and your friends and family are the best!
